Don't be fooled...the PROSH charity fundraiser descends upon Perth on Wednesday 1 April 2009! Donate to charity on the day and receive your complimentary copy of the PROSH newspaper. Starting from 6am on Wednesday 1 April 2009, hundreds of costumed students from The University of Western Australia will descend on locations throughout Perth to sell the funniest newspaper in the nation. In an all new flavour, this year's PROSHers will also visit Bunbury! Over the last weekend, the PROSH newspaper was written by our tireless crew of volunteers and is looking to be funnier than ever. With all new content covering both the old favourites as well as plenty of current and world events, the paper will be the crowning glory of any coffee table or desk, and centre of attention in offices all around Perth. This year also boasts one of our longest PROSHessions in recent years, with 11 floats and 3 sponsor vehicles set to parade throughout the CBD. This year the parade will head off from the Esplanade, around 11.30am north on Barrack St, take a left onto Wellington St, through the Murray St Mall, and then left onto Beaufort St to the Francis St Cultural Centre, where we will convene for skits and speeches. These include Tank Driving Engineers, our favourite Grease characters, and fantasy creature-fighting being from the future, just to name a few. Sponsors include Dominos Pizza, V Energy Drink, Brumby's, Apparition Costume Hire and many more.

PROSH is an annual charity supported by the UWA Student Guild and The University of Western Australia. Each year, university students raise money for charity on PROSH day, with an annual satirical newspaper and procession through the city of Perth. This year’s theme is “PROSHformers”. You can participate by making a donation through PROSH, buying some great PROSH merchandise, joining the PROSHession with your UWA club or society, visiting our Writers’ Nights every Tuesday at 7pm in the Guild Council Meeting Room (2nd floor Guildhall), contributing to Layout Weekend, collecting donations on PROSH day, or just spreading the word. To find out more, contact PROSH or join our Facebook event page. |
